REAR FOG LIGHT [(E)]

Purpose

• The rear fog light enhances the visibility of the vehicle from vehicle rear during poor weather conditions such as rain and fog.

Function

• When the electrical supply unit (ESU) receives a rear fog light on request signal sent via CAN communication from the body control module (BCM), it turns the rear fog light on.

Structure/Construction

• The rear fog light is located on the rear bumper.

• LED type rear fog light has been adopted.

Operation

Operation condition

• Main power switched ON (READY off or on)

• Headlight is illuminated

• Fog light switch position: R.FOG

Operation

1. When the fog light switch is moved to the R.FOG position, the instrument cluster detects (1) the rear fog light signal.

2. The instrument cluster sends (2) the rear fog light signal to the body control module (BCM) via CAN communication.

3. When the operation conditions are met, the body control module (BCM) sends (3) a rear fog light on request signal to the electrical supply unit (ESU) via CAN communication.

4. When the electrical supply unit (ESU) receives the rear fog light on request signal, it turns the rear fog light on (4).
