Warning

Purpose

•  The i-ACTIVSENSE warning light warns the driver that a malfunction is occurring in the i-ACTIVSENSE related system.
•  The high beam control (HBC) warning light warns the driver that a malfunction is occurring in the HBC system.

Function

•  The instrument cluster turns the HBC warning light (amber) and the i-ACTIVSENSE warning light (amber) on based on the system malfunction indication request signal sent via a CAN signal from the body control module (BCM).

Structure/Construction

•  The warning lights (amber) are built into the instrument cluster.

Operation

Warning light
1.  If there is a malfunction in the system, the body control module (BCM) sends (1) a system malfunction indication request signal to the instrument cluster via CAN communication.
2.  The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (2) based on the system malfunction indication request signal.
3.  When the transistor turns on, the warning light (3) light LED turns on.

Indication

Purpose

•  The Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go function (MRCC with Stop & Go function) standby indication notifies the driver that the MRCC system is activated and the MRCC operation conditions are not met, or the MRCC is canceled temporarily.
•  The cruising & traffic support (CTS) standby indication notifies the driver that the CTS system is activated and the CTS operation conditions are not met, or the CTS is canceled temporarily.
•  The Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go function (MRCC with Stop & Go function) set indication notifies the driver that the MRCC system is operating either in constant speed control mode or headway control mode.
•  The cruising & traffic support (CTS) set indication notifies the driver that the CTS system is operating either in constant speed control mode or headway control mode.
•  The HBC indicator light notifies the driver that the HBC system is operating.
•  The smart brake support (SBS) OFF indicator light notifies the driver that the vehicle is under the following conditions.
―  Smart brake support (SBS) [forward detection] is not operating
―  Smart brake support (SBS) [turn-across traffic] is not operating
―  Smart brake support (SBS) [rearward detection] is not operating
―  Smart brake support (SBS) [rear crossing] is not operating
•  The blind spot monitoring (BSM) warning indicator lights notifies the driver of the presence of a vehicle approaching from behind.

Function

•  The instrument cluster turns on the MRCC standby indication, CTS standby indication, MRCC set indication, CTS set indication, or HBC indicator light based on the system status indication request signal sent via CAN communication from the BCM.
•  If an approaching vehicle enters the BSM system alert area or a vehicle will reach the front end of the alert area within the set time, the BSM warning indicator light turns on, and if a turn switch signal is received on the side where the approaching vehicle exists, the indicator light flashes. For details on the BCM system, refer to [BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) SYSTEM]. (See BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) SYSTEM.)

Structure/Construction

•  The following indications are displayed on the multi-information display.
―  MRCC standby indication (white)
―  CTS standby indication (white)
―  MRCC set indication (green)
―  CTS set indication (green)
•  The following indicator lights are built into the instrument cluster.
―  HBC indicator light (green)
―  SBS OFF indicator light (amber)
―  Emergency lane keeping (ELK) OFF indicator light (amber)
•  The following indicator light is built into the power outer mirror.
―  BSM warning indicator light (amber)

Operation

Indication on multi-information display built into instrument cluster
1.  The instrument cluster receives (1) a system status indication request signal from the BCM via CAN communication.
2.  The instrument cluster displays the MRCC standby indication, CTS standby indication, MRCC set indication, or CTS set indication on the multi-information display based on the system status indication request signal.

Indication by LED built into instrument cluster
1.  The BCM sends (1) a system status display request signal to the instrument cluster via CAN communication when the vehicle is under any of the following conditions.
―  HBC system is operating
―  Smart brake support (SBS) [forward detection] is not operating
―  Smart brake support (SBS) [turn-across traffic] is not operating
―  Smart brake support (SBS) [rearward detection] is not operating
―  Smart brake support (SBS) [rear crossing] is not operating
―  Emergency lane keeping [road keep assist] is not operating
―  Emergency lane keeping [blind spot assist] is not operating
2.  The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (2) based on the system status indication request signal.
3.  When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the indicator light is established, and the indicator light turns on (3).

Indication by LED built into power outer mirror
1.  When the BCM determines that an approaching vehicle enters the BSM system alert area or a vehicle will reach the front end of the alert area within the set time, it sends (1) a BSM warning indicator light on request signal to the door-electrical supply unit via a CAN signal.
2.  The door-electrical supply unit outputs (2) an IPS based on the BSM warning indicator light on request signal.
3.  When the IPS is output, power is supplied to the LED built-in the power outer mirror and the BSM warning indicator light turns on (3).

Construction

•  The notification and warning speaker (front) is located on the lower column cover.
•  The notification and warning speaker (rear) is located on the rear wiper motor bracket.

Operation

•  When the BCM determines that a warning is required, it outputs a sound signal to the notification and warning speaker.
•  When the notification and warning speaker inputs the sound signal from the BCM, it activates the alarm.
