Purpose, Function

•  The cooling system cap maintains appropriate pressure in the coolant passage. In addition, it improves cooling efficiency by increasing the pressure in the coolant passage to increase the coolant boiling point.

Construction

•  The cooling system cap is installed to the top side of the coolant reserve tank.

•  The cooling system cap has the following structure.

Sealing valve
•  The sealing valve seals the coolant passage by contacting the top surface of the coolant reserve tank.
Pressure valve
•  The pressure valve opens when the pressure inside the coolant passage is the specified value or more.
Vacuum valve
•  The vacuum valve opens when the pressure inside the coolant passage is the specified value or less (vacuum).

Operation

When coolant temperature is high

•  When the coolant temperature is high, the pressure inside the coolant passage becomes high and the pressure valve is pushed open. As a result, air is discharged from the coolant reserve tank.

When coolant temperature is low

•  When the coolant temperature is low, the pressure inside the coolant passage becomes low and the vacuum valve is pushed open. As a result, air flows into the coolant reserve tank.
