JUNCTION BOX No.1 /No.2
id304100100700
Purpose, Function
• The junction boxes relay electrical power to and from the high voltage battery.
• The junction boxes contain parts such as fuses and contactors.
-
Caution
-
• The high voltage battery cover cannot be removed because the high voltage battery cannot be disassembled.
For this reason, the removal/installation inspection for the component parts of the junction boxes is not possible.
Construction
• One junction box each is equipped at the front and the rear of the high voltage battery.
JUNCTION BOX No.1
-
• Junction box No.1 is located in front of the high voltage battery.
• Junction box No.1 connects and cuts off the high voltage circuit.
-
• A junction box is equipped to each one of the positive and negative circuits. The positive and negative circuits are separated to prevent a short circuit in the high voltage circuit and to improve safety.
• By connecting junction box No.1 to the high voltage battery using a bus bar, the electrical resistance at the connection is reduced.
• The following parts are installed to junction box No.1.
JUNCTION BOX No.1 (+)
-
High Voltage Contactor (+)
-
• The signal from the PCM connects and cuts off the positive side of the high voltage circuit.
-
Battery Heater Contactor
-
• The signal from the BECM connects and cuts off the battery heater circuit.
-
High Voltage Main Fuse
-
• If overcurrent flows into the high voltage circuit, the fuse will blow to protect the vehicle.
JUNCTION BOX No.1 (-)
-
High Voltage Contactor (-)
-
• The signal from the PCM connects and cuts off the negative side of the high voltage circuit.
-
Precharge Contactor
-
• The signal from the PCM connects and cuts off the pre-charge circuit.
-
Precharge Resistor
-
• To prevent inrush current which occurs when connecting the high voltage circuit, a resistor is used to restrict the current during connection and prevent damage to the high voltage circuit.
-
Current sensor
-
• Detects the electrical current of the high voltage circuit and inputs it to the BECM.
JUNCTION BOX No.2
-
• Junction box No.2 is located on the right side behind the high voltage battery.
• Junction box No.2 connects and cuts off the quick charge circuit.
-
• Junction box No.2 is connected to the high voltage battery and the charging terminal is connected using a bus bar to reduce the electrical resistance at the connection.
• The following parts are installed to junction box No.2.
QBC Contactor (+)
• Connects and cuts off the quick charge positive circuit by a signal from the PCM.
QBC Contactor (-)
• Connects and cuts off the quick charge negative circuit by a signal from the PCM.
