Purpose, function
• During normal charging, the onboard charger converts the alternating current input from the charging equipment to a direct current and regulates the charging voltage according to the state of the high voltage battery.
Construction
• The onboard charger is located on the trunk floor panel.
• The onboard charger generates heat during power input and converting alternating current to direct current. For this reason, a coolant passage is equipped in the onboard charger to cool by circulating coolant.
Operation
• When electrical power is input from the charging equipment to the onboard charger during normal charging, the following power conversion is performed by the AC/DC converter and DC/DC converter.

• Converts the alternating current input to the vehicle by normal charging into direct current.

• Based on the high voltage battery information transmitted from the PCM via CAN communication, the direct current converted by the AC/DC converter is regulated to a voltage according to the state of the high voltage battery.
