ELECTRIC PARKING LOCK FORCED RELEASE PROCEDURE [ET6A-EL, ET6AX-EL]

Caution
•  If there is a malfunction in the system or the battery is dead, perform the parking lock actuator forced release if the parking lock cannot be released by operating the selector lever.
•  Block the front and rear wheels. Otherwise, the parking lock may be released and the vehicle may move.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

•  Air cleaner cover
•  Air cleaner element
•  Fresh-air duct
•  Air cleaner case
•  Air hose
•  Resonance chamber

3.  Remove the parking lock actuator installation bolts.

4.  Rotate the manual shaft 20 degrees counterclockwise with the parking lock actuator temporarily assembled as shown in the figure.

Caution
•  Do not remove the parking lock actuator completely from the shaft. When it is removed, always perform the parking lock actuator initial setting so that the parking lock actuator operates normally.

5.  Push the vehicle back and forth and verify that the parking lock is released.

Caution
•  Block the front and rear wheels. Otherwise, the vehicle may move.
