SHIFT POSITION RESTRICTIONS

id052200700900

Purpose, Function

•  If inappropriate shifting by the driver when accelerating from a standstill or driving is detected, the vehicle restricts shift position switching to improve safety.
•  While the shift position restrictions are operating, a message is displayed on the multi-information display and a warning sound is activated to urge the driver to verify and shift to the proper shift position.

Operation

•  When the ignition is switched ON (engine on) and any of the following conditions is met, the vehicle operates the shift position restrictions to switch or maintain the shift position.

-: No conditions

Vehicle speed
Power supply
Other conditions
Selector lever position
Vehicle operation
Operation purpose
Vehicle speed is 0 km/h (stopped)
Ignition is switched ON (engine on)
Brake pedal not depressed and on slope 6% or less
Shifted from N to D or R
N maintained and EPB operated*1
Sudden acceleration prevention due to mistaken pedal depression
EPB operating
AUTOHOLD operating
Vehicle speed is 5 km/h or more
Ignition is switched OFF
-
Desired shift position
Transition to N
Engine stalling or emergency stop operation*2
Ignition is switched ON (engine on)

Safety assurance of shifting operation while driving
Vehicle speed is 10 km/h or more
Ignition is switched ON (engine on)

Shifted to R while driving forward, or D while reversing

*1  :The vehicle operates the EPB by the shift position restrictions, which prevents the vehicle from moving even when it is stopped on a slope. However, if the vehicle moves because it is on a steep slope, it does not operate the shift position restrictions even if the operation conditions are met.
•  While the shift position restrictions are operating, a message is displayed on the multi-information display and a warning sound is activated from the notification and warning speaker. (See WARNING/INDICATION/ALARM.)
•  For the transmission/reception destination of each information used for operation determination, refer to SHIFT-BY-WIRE SYSTEM. (See SHIFT BY WIRE SYSTEM.)
