Air Bag System Component Disassembly
• Disassembling the air bag system components could cause them to activate (deploy) improperly. Never disassemble any air bag system components.
Air Bag Module, Pre-tensioner Seat Belt Handling
• If oil, grease, water adhere to the components of the air bag module, the air bag may not activate (deploy) normally. Never allow oil, grease, water to adhere to the air bag module.
•
If a foreign object such as a screwdriver is inserted into the connector of the air bag module or pre-tensioner seat belt, the connector may be damaged and the air bag or pre-tensioner seat belt may not activate (deploy) normally. Never insert foreign objects into the connector unit of the air bag module or pre-tensioner seat belt.
Air Bag Module, Pre-tensioner Seat Belt Reuse
• Even though the air bag module and pre-tensioner seat belt appear to be free from damage and deformation, there is a possibility that a malfunction such as an internal malfunction has occurred. Use the on-board diagnostic function beforehand to check if the air bag module or pre-tensioner seat belt are defective before reusing an unactivated (undeployed) air bag module or pre-tensioner seat belt.
Air Bag Wiring Harness Repair
• Modifying the air bag harness may cause the air bag module or pre-tensioner seat belt to not activate (deploy) properly. If the air bag harness is not normal, be sure to replace it with a new air bag harness.
