Construction
Rear window defogger
• The rear window defogger filaments are located on the cabin side of the rear window glass.
Heated outer mirror
• The heated outer mirror filament is integrated in the outer mirror glass.
Operation
1. When the rear window defogger switch is turned on with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the climate control unit sends a rear window defogger operation request signal (1) to the BCM via CAN communication.
2. When the BCM receives the rear window defogger operation signal, it turns the rear window defogger relay on (2).
3. The rear window defogger timer operates at the same time the rear window defogger relay turn on. In addition, voltage is supplied (3) to the rear window defogger/heated outer mirror filaments and the filaments are heated to warm the glass around the rear window glass/outer mirror glass.

Note
-
• When approx. 15 min have elapsed after the rear window defogger timer started operation, the BCM turns the rear window defogger relay off and stops the rear window defogger/ heated outer mirror operation. (Rear window defogger operation time is set to "Automatic Shut Off".)
