Purpose

• The instantaneous fuel economy display notifies the driver of the instantaneous fuel economy.

Function

• The body control module (BCM) calculates the instantaneous fuel economy based on the following signals and sends the instantaneous fuel economy signal to the instrument cluster.

• The body control module (BCM) calculates the instantaneous fuel economy based on the fuel injection amount and the traveled distance over the past 2 s when the vehicle speed is at the set value or more. In addition, the calculation results are updated every approx. 2 s.

• When the vehicle speed is approx. 5 km/h or less, [0 km/L] is displayed.

Structure/Construction

• The instantaneous fuel economy display is indicated on the multi-information display in the instrument cluster.

• The instantaneous fuel economy display can be changed to a gauge display or a numerical value display. For details on personalization features, refer to [PERSONALIZATION FEATURES] in the workshop manual.

• With the gauge display, the regenerative brake charging status is also displayed.

Operation

1. When the body control module (BCM) receives (1) the fuel injection amount signal from the PCM and the vehicle speed signal from the electronically controlled brake unit via CAN communication while the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), it calculates the instantaneous fuel economy based on each signal and the traveled distance signal.

2. The body control module (BCM) sends (2) the instantaneous fuel economy signal to the instrument cluster based on the calculated instantaneous fuel economy.

3. The instrument cluster displays (3) the instantaneous fuel economy on the multi-information display based on the instantaneous fuel economy signal.
