SEAT SIDE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning

•  Handling a seat (with built-in side air bag) improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings before handling a seat (with built-in side air bag). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS.)

Caution

•  After removing a seat, do not operate the slider lever. If the slider lever is operated, the left and right slide positions will deviate, and the slide adjuster may be damaged after the seat is installed.

•  Verify that there are no malfunctions in the sliding mechanism after installing a seat.

•  When performing the procedure with a seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean rag so as not to damage or soil the seat.

L.H.D.

Driver's seat

1.  Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position.

2.  Remove the battery cover.

3.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L8, LF].)

4.  Remove the seat. (See SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the outer lift lever cover in the direction of arrow (1), (2) shown in the figure to disengage the tab A and hook B.

6.  Remove the snap ring.

7.  Operate the lift lever in the direction of arrow (3) shown in the figure.

8.  Using a flathead screwdriver, hold the spring and return the lift lever a bit to pull it up in the order of (4), (5) shown in the figure.

9.  After operating the recliner knob in the upward direction (6), cut the area indicated in the figure, then remove the recliner knob in the direction of arrow (7).

Caution

•  The seat back folds forward when the recliner knob is operated. Be careful when operating the recliner knob.

10.  Remove the screw C.

11.  Remove the screw D and pull the seat side cover in the direction of arrow (8) shown in the figure to disengage the hook E.

Passenger's seat

1.  Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position.

2.  Remove the battery cover.

3.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L8, LF].)

4.  Remove the seat. (See SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  After operating the recliner knob in the upward direction (1), cut the area indicated in the figure, then remove the recliner knob in the direction of arrow (2).

Caution

•  The seat back folds forward when the recliner knob is operated. Be careful when operating the recliner knob.

6.  Remove the screw A.

7.  Pull the seat side cover in the direction of arrow (3) shown in the figure to disengage the tab B.

8.  Pull the seat side cover in the direction of arrow (4) shown in the figure to disengage the tab C.

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

R.H.D.

Driver's seat

11.  Remove the screw D and pull the seat side cover in the direction of arrow (8) shown in the figure to disengage the hook E.

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
