Rear Wheel Bearing Excessive Play Inspection

1. Remove the rear brake caliper component and suspend it in a place out of the way using a cable. (See REAR BRAKE DISC REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2. Remove the rear disc plate. (See REAR BRAKE DISC REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3. Install the magnetic base and dial gauge as shown in the figure and measure the rear wheel bearing axial excessive play.

Rear wheel bearing maximum play

0.05 mm {0.002 in}

• If it exceeds the maximum specification, replace the wheel hub component. (See WHEEL HUB COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
