OIL STRAINER (ELECTRIC AT OIL PUMP) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL]

1.  Drain the ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT [SJ6A-EL].)

2.  Slide the hose clamp upward and disconnect the electric AT oil pump hose.

3.  Remove the oil pan and oil pan gasket.

Caution
•  Be careful not to scratch or damage the contact surfaces of the transmission case and oil pan.
•  Be careful not to deform the oil pan.

4.  Remove the oil strainer (electric AT oil pump) and O-ring.

5.  Completely remove any remaining ATF from the bolt installation areas.

6.  Assemble the new O-ring completely on to the suction tube.

7.  Insert the suction tube completely into the oil strainer (electric AT oil pump).

8.  Temporarily tighten the bolts.

9.  Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the figure.

10.  Install the new oil pan gasket and oil pan to the transmission case.

Caution
•  Because the oil pan gasket is made of cork, the oil pan gasket may be damaged if it is tightened with excessive force.

11.  Install the bolts to the transmission case.

Tightening torque
6.0—7.9 N·m {62—80 kgf·cm, 54—69 in·lbf}

12.  Install the electric AT oil pump hose and hose clamp to the position shown in the figure.

Caution
•  Be careful not to pinch the hose with the protector.

13.  Add the ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT [SJ6A-EL].)
