Purpose
• A lateral frame structure has been adopted for the bonnet to reduce injury to pedestrians in a collision.
Function
Active bonnet

• The active bonnet pushes the bonnet upward instantaneously and maintains clearance between the bonnet and the parts in the engine compartment to assure a space for absorbing impact to the pedestrian in a collision. Refer to the [ACTIVE BONNET] for details. (See

Construction
• The lateral frame structure has the characteristic in which the applied impact can be transmitted to a wide area in a short period of time, and with the adoption of this lateral frame structure to the inner bonnet, impact to the pedestrian's head at the limited space on the lower part of the bonnet can be absorbed.
• Weight reduction has been achieved by adopting slits to the inner bonnet.
