SEAT WARMER UNIT INSPECTION

Warning

•  Handling a seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling the seat (side air bag integrated). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS.) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

Simple Inspection

1.  Cool the seat back (thermistor) using a cooling agent.

2.  Operate the seat warmer switch to turn on the seat warmer.

3.  Touch the seat cushion and the seat back to verify a temperature increase.

4.  If a temperature increase cannot be verified, go to the resistance inspection. (See Resistance Inspection.)

Resistance Inspection

Driver-Side

Seat cushion side

1.  Switch the ignition to off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Disconnect the driver’s side seat warmer unit connector.

4.  Inspect for continuity between the driver’s side seat warmer unit connector (short cord) terminal A—B.

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat cushion pad. (See SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)

Seat back side

1.  Switch the ignition to off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Disconnect the driver’s side seat warmer unit connector.

4.  Inspect for continuity between the driver’s side seat warmer unit connector terminal 6A—I.

Standard type

•  If the resistance does not change, replace the net. (See NET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Sports type (RECARO)

•  If the resistance does not change, replace the seat back pad. (See SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Measure the resistance between the front seat warmer unit connector terminals F and H, and verify that the condition is as indicated in the table.

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the net. (See NET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Sports type (RECARO)

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat back pad. (See SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Passenger-Side

Seat cushion side

1.  Switch the ignition to off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Disconnect the passenger’s side seat warmer unit connector.

4.  Inspect for continuity between the passenger’s side seat warmer unit connector (short cord) terminal A—B.

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat cushion pad. (See SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)

Seat back side

1.  Switch the ignition to off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Disconnect the passenger’s side seat warmer unit connector.

4.  Inspect for continuity between the passenger’s side seat warmer unit connector terminal 6B—6A.

Standard type

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the net. (See NET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Sports type (RECARO)

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat back pad. (See SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Measure the resistance between the front seat warmer unit connector terminals 6C and 6D, and verify that the condition is as indicated in the table.

Sports type (RECARO)
