RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE

id091600016200

Purpose

•  The retractable hardtop control module performs control of the retractable hardtop based on the following information.
―  Retractable hardtop open signal
―  Retractable hardtop close signal
―  Top lock limit switch signal
―  Trunk lid latch switch signal
―  Front roof open limit switch signal
―  Front roof close limit switch signal
―  Rear roof open limit switch signal
―  Rear roof close limit switch signal
―  Front roof link motor pulse signal
―  Rear roof link motor pulse signal
―  Door glass open completion signal

Functions

•  When the retractable hardtop control module receives a signal from the retractable hardtop switch, it sends current to each motor to open/close the retractable hardtop electrically.
•  The retractable hardtop control module detects the retractable hardtop operation condition based on the pulse from each motor.
•  A fail-safe function has been adopted which stops the operation if the retractable hardtop control module detects an error signal from any part.

Construction

•  The retractable hardtop control module is located in the rear side trim.

Operation

Electric open/close control function

•  For details on the electric open/close function, refer to the [ELECTRIC OPEN/CLOSE CONTROL FUNCTION] for the retractable hardtop. (See RETRACTABLE HARDTOP.)

Operation condition detection function

•  The retractable hardtop control module detects the motor rotation speed and rotation direction based on the pulse from each motor.

Fail-safe function

•  The retractable hardtop control module monitors each input/output part, and if a malfunction is detected, it performs the following actions.

Item

Detection Condition

Action after malfunction detected

Recovery condition

Power supply voltage malfunction
Power supply voltage is 7.5 V or less, or 17.5 V or more
•  Retractable hardtop is not operated
―  Inhibits retractable hardtop operation
•  Retractable hardtop is operating
―  Stops retractable hardtop operation
Power supply voltage is 8.5 or more or 16.5 V or less
Hall effect switch power supply voltage malfunction
Hall effect switch power supply voltage is 5 V or less
Stops motor operation
Ignition is switched from ON in the following order
•  OFF to ON
Hall effect switch malfunction
Pulse signal from Hall effect switch cannot be detected
Stops motor operation
Note
•  The motor can be operated by turning the retractable hardtop switch on again.
Pulse signal is demodulated or ignition is switched from OFF to ON.
Door glass open completion signal error
Door glass open completion signal cannot be received
•  If the condition in which a door glass open completion signal cannot be received is detected while the retractable hardtop is closing, the operation is inhibited after the retractable hardtop is fully closed (only rear roof can operate).
•  If the condition in which a door glass open completion signal cannot be received is detected while the retractable hardtop is opening, the open operation continues and after the operation finishes, the close operation can be performed only once. Inhibits the operation after the retractable hardtop is fully closed (only rear roof can operate).
Door glass open completion signal is received
Open completion signal is received continuously for 30 s or more
•  If the retractable hardtop is not operating and the retractable hardtop is fully closed, inhibits the retractable hardtop operation.
•  If the retractable hardtop is not operating and the retractable hardtop is fully opened, the close operation can be performed only once. Inhibits the operation after the retractable hardtop is fully closed.
Continuous reception of open notification signal stops temporarily
Power window system initial setting not performed
Power window system initial setting not performed
•  If power window system initial setting non-implementation is detected with the retractable hardtop closed, the open operation and close operation can be performed only once for each. Inhibits the operation after the retractable hardtop is fully closed (only rear roof can operate).
•  If a non-implementation of the power window system initial setting is detected with the retractable hardtop opened, the close operation can be performed only once. Inhibits the operation after the retractable hardtop is fully closed (only rear roof can operate).
Power window system initial setting is performed
Front/rear roof link motor malfunction
Supply voltage to the motor is lowered
Stops motor operation
Ignition is switched from ON in the following order
•  OFF to ON
Front roof link motor (Left and right position combination)
Difference in pulse count number between left and right is at certain level or more
Stops motor operation
The retractable hardtop switch is operated again. However, if the difference in pulse count number between the left and right is detected to be at a certain level or more three times, the ignition can only be switched from ON in the order indicated below.
•  OFF to ON
Rear roof link motor (Left and right position combination)
Difference in pulse count number between left and right is at certain level or more
Stops motor operation
The retractable hardtop switch is operated again. However, if the difference in pulse count number between the left and right is detected to be at a certain level or more three times, the ignition can only be switched from ON in the order indicated below.
•  OFF to ON
Front/rear roof link limit switch malfunction
Front/rear roof link limit switch malfunction
Stops retractable hardtop operation
Normal logic is detected
Top lock switch malfunction
Top lock switch ON is detected with retractable hardtop open
The retractable hardtop close operation can be performed only once. Inhibits the operation after the retractable hardtop is fully closed.
Top lock switch off is detected
Top lock switch OFF is detected with retractable hardtop closed and vehicle speed
Vehicle speed 10km/h is detected
Retractable hardtop switch malfunction
Switch input is 1 V or less
Stops retractable hardtop operation
Normal input voltage is recovered
Switch ON signal is detected for 30 s or more after ignition is switched ON
Stops retractable hardtop operation
