DETECTION CONDITION
•  The exhaust pipe temperature is estimated from the vehicle driving conditions if the estimated exhaust gas temperature is the specified value or more for a certain period of time.
Diagnostic support note
•  This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
•  The check engine light does not illuminate.
•  FREEZE FRAME DATA is not available.
•  Snapshot data is available.
•  DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
•  Operates the cooling fan (high speed rotation)
•  Fixed charging efficiency
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Cooling fan and cooling equipment malfunction
•  High engine speed condition continues
•  Fuel injection control too lean
―  Air suction in intake air system
―  A/F sensor malfunction
•  Fuel injector clogged
•  Ignition timing control improper operation
•  PCM malfunction

RECORD VEHICLE STATUS AT TIME OF DTC DETECTION TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION
Note
•  Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.
•  Record the snapshot data on the repair order.
Go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Service Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY DTCs FOR COOLING SYSTEM
•  Switch the ignition off, then ON (engine off).
•  Perform the Pending Trouble Code Access Procedure and DTC Reading Procedure.
•  Is the PENDING CODE/DTC P0088:00, P0101:00, P0171:00, P0480:00 or P111A:00 also present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
Go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT INTAKE AIR SYSTEM FOR AIR SUCTION
•  Verify if there is air suction into the intake air system (such as between MAF sensor and intake valve, vacuum hose, evaporative hose, ventilation hose).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR OPERATION
•  Perform the Fuel Injector Operation Inspection.
•  Do the fuel injectors operate properly?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results, then go to Step 7.

INSPECT IGNITION SYSTEM OPERATION
•  Is a strong blue spark visible at each cylinder?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results, then go to the next step.
7
VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the DTC Reading Procedure.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
8
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform the “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
