Outline

•  Two neutral switches have been adopted for improved accuracy of the i-stop control for MT vehicles.

Purpose

•  The neutral switch detects the neutral position of the shift lever.

Function

Neutral switch No.1
•  The manual transmission condition required for each control of the engine is detected.
Neutral switch No.2
•  Detection accuracy has been improved by comparing with the neutral switch No.1 signal. Due to this, determination accuracy of the engine stop/restart conditions for i-stop control has been improved.

Construction

•  The neutral switch is located on the manual transmission.

•  A pushed-in type rod has been adopted for the neutral switch.
•  The relation of the shift lever, rod and neutral switch is as follows.

Operation

1.  When the shift lever is in the neutral position, the neutral switch rod is pushed in.

2.  When the rod is pushed in, the neutral switch turns on (1).

3.  When the neutral switch is on, the PCM detects (2) a neutral switch ON signal.
