CAN communication: Module communication error (local CAN between TCM and PCM)

DETECTION CONDITION

•  Vehicle condition: TCM communication normal

•  Status: Detects CAN BUS OFF malfunction

•  Period: After CAN controller reset, confirmed by re-detection

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

•  Inhibits learning control.

•  Inhibits direct mode.

•  Inhibits AAS mode.

•  Inhibits the TCC control and slip control.

•  Inhibits 5GR and 6GR.

•  Inhibits the neutral control.

•  Inhibits the i-stop control.

•  Inhibits the slope control.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  CAN bus communication line malfunction

•  PCM malfunction

•  TCM malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION Note • Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture of the PC function. • Record the freeze frame data/snap shot data.	—	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY • Verify related Service Information availability. • Is any related Service Information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information. • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY OTHER RELATED DTCs • Switch the ignition off, then ON (engine off). • Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].) • Is any other DTC stored?	Yes	Follow the applicable DTC inspection procedure, then go to the next step. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC TABLE [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	VERIFY PCM DTC • Perform the PCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0)].) • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	DTC U0074:00 or U0302:00 is displayed: • CAN communication line can be considered the cause. ― Repair or replace the wiring harness between PCM and TCM, then go to the next step. DTC other than U0074:00 and U0302:00 is displayed: • Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0)].)
4		No	PCM can be considered the cause. • Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)
5	VERIFY SAME DTC IS NOT PRESENT • Always reconnect all disconnected connectors. • Clear the DTC using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].) • Perform the following procedure to ensure that the DTC has been resolved: • Start the engine. • Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the TCM, then go to the next step. (See TCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL].)
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED • Clear the DTC using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].) • Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].) • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC TABLE [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].)
6		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
