TRANSMISSION OIL INSPECTION [M66M-D]

1.  Park the vehicle on level ground.

2.  Remove the center under cover. (With center under cover) (See CENTER UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the plate. (With plate) (See PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the member bracket. (With member bracket)

5.  Remove the oil level plug and gasket.

6.  Verify that the manual transmission oil is within the range shown in the figure.

•  If it is not within the range, adjust the manual transmission oil level.

Specified transmission oil
Mazda Original Long Life Gear Oil IS*1

*1  :Mazda Original Long Life Gear Oil IS is superior oil for optimum shift-feel. Using Mazda Original Long Life Gear Oil IS is recommended. If Mazda Original Long Life Gear Oil IS cannot be obtained, use standard oil (API Service GL-4 (SAE 75W-90)). However, shifting in very low temperatures may become difficult.

7.  Install a new gasket and the oil level plug.

Tightening torque
40—59 N·m {4.1—6.0 kgf·m, 30—43 ft·lbf}

8.  Install the member bracket. (With member bracket)

9.  Install the plate. (With plate) (See PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

10.  Install the center under cover. (With center under cover) (See CENTER UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
