A-PILLAR GARNISH REMOVAL

Warning
•  Always replace the A-pillar garnish and clips with new ones. Otherwise, the windshield garnish may fall off while the vehicle is being driven, leading to a serious accident.

1.  Using the retractable hardtop switch, keep the front roof half-open. (retractable hardtop)

2.  Open the convertible top. (convertible top)

3.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

4.  Open the door.

5.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Female wedge (See FEMALE WEDGE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Front header trim (See FRONT HEADER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Windshield garnish (See WINDSHIELD GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure, rotate it in the direction of the arrow and detach A-pillar garnish clip.

7.  While lifting up the A-pillar garnish in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, move it in the direction of arrows (2) and (3), and detach the clip from the A-pillar garnish.

8.  Move the A-pillar garnish in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove it.

9.  Remove the clips remaining on the body. (See Clip Removal Note.)


Clip Removal Note

1.  Insert a tape-wrapped fastener remover in the position shown in the figure.

2.  Insert a flathead screwdriver in the position shown in the figure.

3.  Move the tools in the directions of the arrows shown in the figure and remove the clip.
