Warning
•  If a vehicle with a deployed active bonnet is to be driven, make sure that the raised bonnet does not obstruct vision and drive the vehicle at a low speed.
•  If the bonnet release handle is pulled after the active bonnet has deployed, the hood will rise even further. If the vehicle is driven with the bonnet raised it will obstruct visibility and could result in an accident.
•  Do not try to push the bonnet back down after the active bonnet has deployed. Otherwise, it could deform the bonnet or cause injury because the activated bonnet cannot be lowered manually.
•  If repairs are performed on a vehicle with a deployed active bonnet, always replace the parts with new parts. If the vehicle is driven without part replacement, the active bonnet may not deploy correctly.

Purpose

•   If the vehicle were to hit a pedestrian in a frontal collision, the active bonnet mediates impact to the head of the pedestrian.

Function

•  If the vehicle hits a pedestrian and a certain level of impact is applied to the front of the vehicle, the rear side of the bonnet pops up and maintains clearance between the bonnet and the parts in the engine compartment to reduce the impact to the pedestrian’s head.
•  If a malfunction occurs in the active bonnet, the system notifies the driver by illuminating the active bonnet warning light in the instrument cluster or sounding the active bonnet warning alarm.
