Active Bonnet Handling

•  Always perform the procedure with at least one other person so that the bonnet does not tilt. If the bonnet is opened after the active bonnet has deployed, one side of the bonnet side may tilt and cause injury.
•  If repairs are performed on a vehicle with a deployed active bonnet, always replace with new parts no matter to what extent the external damage appears. If the vehicle is driven without part replacement, the active bonnet may not deploy correctly.

Active Bonnet Actuator Inspection

•  Inspecting the active bonnet using a tester can operate the actuator which may cause serious injury. Do not use a tester to inspect the active bonnet.

Active Bonnet Actuator Handling

•  Before removing the active bonnet actuator or disconnecting the active bonnet actuator connector, always switch the ignition to LOCK, disconnect the negative battery cable, and then wait for 1 min or more to allow the backup power supply of the active bonnet control module to deplete its stored power.
•  If the piston side of an active bonnet actuator that has not been deployed is pointed towards you and it were to unexpectedly operate, it could cause injury. Always point the piston side of an active bonnet actuator that has not been deployed away from you.

Active Bonnet Control Module Handling

•  If the active bonnet control module is removed or the active control module connector is disconnected while the ignition is switched ON, the active bonnet actuator could operate and cause injury. Before removing the active bonnet control module or disconnecting the active bonnet control module connector, always switch the ignition to LOCK, disconnect the negative battery cable, and then wait for 1 min or more to allow the backup power supply of the active bonnet control module to deplete its stored power.
•  If the active bonnet actuator has been deployed due to a collision, the active bonnet control module records the determination conditions during the deployment and inhibits a subsequent detonation determination (detonation-freeze). Therefore, always replace the active bonnet control module with a new one. If the active bonnet control module is reused, the active bonnet actuator may not operate and cause a serious accident.
•  Because the active bonnet control module cannot be inspected as a single unit, always perform the inspection using the on-board diagnostic function.

Active Bonnet Sensor Handling

•  If the active bonnet control sensor is removed or the active bonnet sensor connector is disconnected while the ignition is switched ON, the active bonnet actuator could operate and cause injury. Before removing the active bonnet sensor or disconnecting the active bonnet sensor connector, always switch the ignition to LOCK, disconnect the negative battery cable, and then wait for 1 min or more to allow the backup power supply of the active bonnet control module to deplete its stored power.
•  If the active bonnet sensor is subjected to shock or the sensor is disassembled, the active bonnet actuator may accidentally operate and cause injury, or the system may fail to operate normally and cause a serious accident. Do not allow the active bonnet sensor to get hit and do not disassembly the sensor.
•  Because a crash sensor is integrated into the active bonnet sensor, if the active bonnet actuator has been deployed due to a collision, the active bonnet sensor may have an internal malfunction even if there is no visible damage or deformation on the exterior. If the active bonnet sensor is reused, the active bonnet may not operate normally, which could result in a serious accident. Always replace the active bonnet sensor with a new one.
•  Because the active bonnet sensor cannot be inspected as a single unit, always perform the inspection using the on-board diagnostic function.
