A/C DOES NOT CUT OFF UNDER WIDE OPEN THROTTLE CONDITIONS

DESCRIPTION

•  The A/C compressor magnetic clutch does not disengage under WOT.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Continuous memory DTC is stored

•  APP sensor malfunction

―  APP sensor malfunction

―  Loosely installed APP sensor

•  PCM malfunction

DESCRIPTION	• The A/C compressor magnetic clutch does not disengage under WOT.
POSSIBLE CAUSE	• Continuous memory DTC is stored • APP sensor malfunction ― APP sensor malfunction ― Loosely installed APP sensor • PCM malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION	ACTION
1	Does the A/C compressor disengage when the A/C switch is turned off?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Go to the symptom troubleshooting “NO.24 A/C IS ALWAYS ON OR A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONTINUOUSLY”. (See NO.24 A/C IS ALWAYS ON OR A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONTINUOUSLY [ZJ, ZY].)
2	Perform the KOEO and KOER self test. (See KOEO/KOER SELF TEST [ZJ, ZY].) Are any continuous memory DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the appropriate DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [ZJ, ZY].)
2		No	Inspect the APP sensor. (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION (APP) SENSOR INSPECTION [ZJ, ZY].) Replace the APP sensor, if necessary. (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY].)
3	Verify test results. • If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. (See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSTIC INDEX [ZJ, ZY].) • If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Information and perform the repair or diagnosis. ― If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed. ― If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM.
