•  The intake shutter valve actuator uses a DC continuous motor for throttle plate control. The intake shutter valve position sensor varies linearly and is directly proportional to the intake shutter valve angle. The PCM applies reference voltage and ground to the sensor and monitors the sensors radiometric output voltage to determine precise intake shutter valve position.
•  In order to restrict the inlet air flow, the intake shutter valve is closed by a set percentage value depending on requirements. This produces a specific vacuum behind the intake shutter valve. This vacuum results in the recirculated exhaust gases being drawn in more efficiently by the engine via the EGR valve and therefore a higher EGR rate to be delivered to the cylinders.
