Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
•  Start the engine.
•  Release the parking brake.
•  Does the brake system warning light turn off?
Yes
Troubleshooting completed. (The system is normal.)
No
Go to the next step.
2
•  Does the brake fluid need replenishment?
Yes
Add brake fluid.
No
Vehicles with brake override system, without malfunction warning light
•  Go to the next step.
Others
•  Go to Step 4.
3
•  Reactive the DTC of PCM using M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC P0571:00 or P0703:00 detected?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure.
No
Go to the next step.
4
•  Inspect following:
―  Brake fluid level sensor
―  Parking brake switch
―  Wiring harness between brake fluid level sensor and BCM terminal 4A
―  Wiring harness between parking brake switch and BCM terminal 7B
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
No
Go to the next step.
5
•  Start the engine.
•  Verify that the warning and indicator lights condition.
•  Do two or more lights illuminate at the same time?
Yes
Go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.
6
•  Reactive the DTC of BCM, ABS HU/CM or DSC HU/CM using M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC detected?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure.
No
Go to the next step.
7
•  Turn off the brake system warning light using M-MDS instrument cluster according to active command modes WL+IL.
•  Does the brake system warning light turn off active command modes?
Yes
Verify that the BCM, ABS HU/CM or DSC HU/CM connector is connected securely.
If the BCM, ABS HU/CM or DSC HU/CM connector is poor connection:
Connect the BCM, ABS HU/CM or DSC HU/CM connector securely.
If malfunction is in the BCM, ABS HU/CM or DSC HU/CM side connector:
Replace the BCM, ABS HU/CM or DSC HU/CM.
If malfunction is in vehicle side connector:
Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
No
Replace the instrument cluster.
8
•  Reactive the DTC of instrument cluster using M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC detected?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC troubleshooting procedure.
No
Go to the next step.
9
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Measure the resistance between the DLC-2 terminals F and E.
•  Is the resistance below 60 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 11.
10
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Inspect the DLC-2 terminals F and E for short to power supply or ground.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Inspect the wiring harness and CAN system-related module.
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
No
Replace the instrument cluster.
11
•  Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position.
•  Inspect the instrument cluster connector terminals for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
•  Are the terminals normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
If the instrument cluster connector is poor connection:
Connect the instrument cluster connector securely.
If malfunction is in the instrument cluster side connector:
Replace the instrument cluster.
If malfunction is in vehicle side connector:
Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
12
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster connector terminals 2B and 2D.
•  Is the resistance 114—126 ohms?
Yes
Inspect the wiring harness and CAN system-related module.
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
No
Replace the instrument cluster.
