•  The wrench indicator light alerts the driver to an engine oil deterioration and engine oil level malfunction.

•  The wrench indicator light is built into the instrument cluster.

•  If the PCM detects engine oil deterioration or an excess engine oil level, it sends (1) the wrench indicator light request signal to the instrument cluster.

•  If the PCM detects a deficient engine oil level, it sends (1) a wrench indicator light flash request signal to the instrument cluster.

•  The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (2) intermittently for flashing and continuously for illumination based on each signal.

•  The wrench indictor light flashes (3) when the transistor is turned on intermittently, and it turns on (3) when the transistor is turned on continuously.
