GLOW INDICATOR LIGHT [SKYACTIV-D 1.5]

id0140z5265300

Purpose

•  The glow indicator light alerts the driver that the engine cannot be started by preheating the glow plug. In addition, it notifies vehicle servicing personnel of the operation condition during learning/data reset necessary with servicing.

Function

•  The PCM sends a glow indicator light illumination/flashing request to the instrument cluster via CAN communication.

Construction

•  The glow indicator light is equipped in the instrument cluster.

•  For vehicles with center display, a warning message in the center display is displayed when the glow indicator light is illuminated. For the message content and verification method, refer to the CENTER DISPLAY. (See CENTER DISPLAY [WITH CENTER DISPLAY])

Operation

•  The glow indicator light illumination conditions are as follows:
Glow indicator light illumination conditions
―  During preheating of glow plug before engine start when cold (during preheating timer operation)
―  After ignition is switched ON (turns off after approx. 1 s)
―  During fuel injection learning (manual)
―  Fuel injection learning (manual) is performed, however learning condition is not met
―  During timing chain learning
Glow indicator light flashing conditions
―  Fuel injection learning (manual) completed
―  Fuel injection learning (manual) failed (continues to flash)
―  Engine oil data reset completed
―  Timing chain learning completed
―   High frequency of DPF regeneration is determined and driver notified to bring vehicle in for servicing.

1.  When the illumination or flashing conditions are met, the instrument cluster receives (1) a glow indication light-on request signal or a glow indication flash request signal from the PCM.

2.  The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (2) intermittently when it receives a glow indication flash request signal, and it turns the transistor on continuously when it receives a glow indication on request signal.

3.  The glow indicator light flashes (3) when the transistor is turned on intermittently, and it turns on (3) when the transistor is turned on continuously.
