REAR PARKING BRAKE CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [REAR BRAKE (DRUM)]

1. Remove the center console tray. (See CENTER CONSOLE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2. Loosen the adjusting nut. (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER ADJUSTMENT.)
3. Remove the fuel tank side cover. (See FUEL TANK SIDE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Remove the insulator (middle No.2) installation nuts and set them aside in front of the vehicle. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].) (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
5. Remove the insulator (middle No.1) installation nuts. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].) (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
6. Remove the front parking brake cable from the equalizer.

7. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
9. After installation, inspect the parking brake lever stroke. (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER INSPECTION.)

Rear Parking Brake Cable (Equalizer Side) Removal Note
1. Press the rear parking brake cable tabs and remove the rear parking brake cable from the body.

Rear Parking Brake Cable (End Cable Side) Removal Note
1. Bend the end cable tab in the direction of arrow (1) as shown in the figure.

2. Move the rear parking brake cable end in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and disconnect it from the end cable as shown in the figure.
3. Press the rear parking brake cable tabs and remove the rear parking brake cable from the bracket.

Rear Parking Brake Cable (End Cable Side) Installation Note
1. Install the rear parking brake cable as shown in the figure.

2. Verify that the rear parking brake cable tabs are securely engaged with the bracket.
3. Move the rear parking brake cable end in the direction shown in the figure and install it to the end cable.

4. Verify the end cable tabs are securely engaged to the rear parking brake cable as shown in the figure.
Rear Parking Brake Cable (Equalizer Side) Installation Note
1. Install the rear parking brake cable as shown in the figure.

2. Assemble the cable with the marking to the vehicle left side as shown in the figure.
3. Verify that the rear parking brake cable tabs are securely engaged to the body.
