Construction/Operation

•  The brake system/ABS warning light is built into the instrument cluster.
•  When the DSC system and CAN lines are functioning normally, the brake system/ABS warning light illuminates when the ignition is switched ON to check for a burned-out bulb, and then turns off after approx. 3 s. At this time, while the parking brake is activated, the brake system warning light remains illuminated, however, it turns off after the parking brake is released.
•  If a malfunction is detected in the system with the parking brake released, the ABS HU/CM sends the brake system/ABS warning lights request signal. When the instrument cluster receives the brake system/ABS warning lights request signal from the ABS HU/CM, the microcomputer turns the transistor on and a ground circuit with the brake system/ABS warning light is established. Therefore, the brake system/ABS warning light illuminates.
