CONDENSER INSPECTION

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Discharge the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY.)(See REFRIGERANT CHARGING.)

3.  Drain the engine coolant. (SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5)(See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

4.  Remove the following parts (SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5):

(1)  Plug hole plate (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

(2)  Air cleaner, air hose and fresh air duct component (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

(3)  Coolant reserve tank (See COOLANT RESERVE TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

(4)  Cooling fan component (See COOLING FAN MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

(5)  Radiator (See RADIATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

5.  Remove the following parts (SKYACTIV-D 1.5):

(1)  Front bumper (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL.)(See FRONT BUMPER INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Seal plate (See SEAL PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Cooler pipe A (See REFRIGERANT LINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

(4)  Front combination light (See FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  Bumper stiffener lower (See BUMPER STIFFENER LOWER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Front under cover No.1 (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7)  Crash zone sensor (See CRASH ZONE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)(See CRASH ZONE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

(8)  Ambient temperature sensor (See AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)(See AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER].)

(9)  Bonnet latch (See BONNET LATCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(10)  Shroud panel (See SHROUD PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Remove the condenser. (See CONDENSER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)(See CONDENSER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

7.  Inspect the condenser for cracks, damage, and oil leakage.

•  If there is any malfunction, replace the condenser. (See CONDENSER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)(See CONDENSER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

8.  Visually inspect for bent fins for restriction or foreign matter.

•  If any fins are restricted, remove the foreign matter.

9.  Visually inspect for bent fins.

•  If any fins are bent, use the end of a flathead screwdriver to straighten fins.
