SEAT WARMER UNIT INSPECTION

Warning

•  Handling a front seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling the front seat (side air bag integrated). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) Simple Inspection

1.  Place a cooling agent on the seat cushion (thermistor).

2.  Operate the seat warmer switch to turn on the seat warmer.

3.  Touch the seat cushion and the seat back to verify a temperature increase.

4.  If a temperature increase cannot be verified, go to the resistance inspection. (See Resistance Inspection.)

Resistance Inspection

Driver-side

Front seat cushion

1.  Switch the ignition to off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Disconnect the driver-side seat warmer unit connector.

4.  Inspect for continuity between the driver-side seat warmer unit connector terminal 6C and 6D.

―  If not as indicated in the table, replace the front seat cushion trim. (See FRONT SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)

5.  Measure the resistance between the driver-side seat warmer unit connector terminals 6A and 6B, and verify that the condition is as indicated in the table.

―  If the thermistor characteristic is not as shown in the graph, replace the front seat cushion trim. (See FRONT SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Front seat back

1.  Switch the ignition to off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Disconnect the driver-side seat warmer unit connector.

4.  Inspect for continuity between the driver-side seat warmer unit connector (short cord) terminal A and B.

―  If not as indicated in the table, replace the front seat back trim. (See FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)

Passenger-Side

Front seat cushion

1.  Switch the ignition to off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Disconnect the passenger-side seat warmer unit connector.

4.  Inspect for continuity between the passenger-side seat warmer unit connector terminal 6A and E.

5.  Measure the resistance between the passenger-side seat warmer unit connector terminals B and D, and verify that the condition is as indicated in the table.

Front seat back

1.  Switch the ignition to off.

3.  Disconnect the passenger-side seat warmer unit connector.

4.  Inspect for continuity between the passenger-side seat warmer unit connector (short cord) terminal A and B.
