Resistance Inspection

Warning
•  Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) 1.  Switch the ignition off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) 4.  Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Measure the resistance between cruise control switches E and A under the following conditions:

•  Resistance with MRCC OFF / CANCEL switch pressed and held
―  0 ohms

•  Resistance with SET (-) switch pressed and held
―  83.655—85.345 ohms

•  Resistance with SET (+) switch pressed and held
―  187.605—191.395 ohms

•  Resistance with MODE switch pressed and held
―  323.235—329.765 ohms

•  Resistance with RESUME switch pressed and held
―  501.435—511.565 ohms

•  Resistance with DISTANCE (+) switch pressed and held

•  If not within the specification, replace the cruise control switch.

LED Illumination Inspection

Warning

1.  Switch the ignition off.

4.  Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Apply battery positive voltage to cruise control switch terminal 3F, and connect terminal 3B to ground.

6.  Verify that the LED illuminates.

•  If the LED does not illuminate, replace the cruise control switch.
