BRAKE SWITCH INSPECTION

id041100801900

Caution
• Inspect the brake switch with it installed to the brake pedal, and the connector connected to the brake switch, otherwise the brake switch may not operate normally. If the brake switch is removed from the brake pedal or the connector is disconnected from the brake switch, replace the brake switch with a new one.

1. Measure the voltage between the following terminals and body ground, and verify that the voltage is as indicated in the table.

• If the voltage is not as indicated in the figure, repair or replace the brake switch and harness under the following conditions.
a. When terminal B is B+ and terminal D is 1 V or less under any brake pedal condition:
Replace the brake switch. (Open circuit in brake switch)
b. When both terminals B and D are 1 V or less under any brake pedal condition:
Disconnect the brake switch connector and inspect for continuity between terminals B and D when the brake pedal is released. If there is continuity, replace the brake light switch. If there is no continuity, repair or replace the harness and replace the brake switch with a new one. (Short circuit inside the brake switch or in the brake switch circuit)
