NO. 2 ALL METERS AND GAUGES DO NOT OPERATE

id0903d5807500

No.2

All meters and gauges do not operate

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Burnt fuse (METER)
• Poor connection of instrument cluster connector, terminal damage
• Instrument cluster malfunction
• Open or short circuit in power supply (IG1) wiring harness
• Open or short circuit in GND wiring harness

Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Inspect the following:
- Does the odometer/tripmeter illuminate?
- Does the fuel gauge operate?
- Dose the engine warning light illumination turn off within approx. 3 s?
Yes
The system is normal.
No
Go to the next step.
2
• Inspect the METER fuse.
• Is it normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace with the appropriate standard fuse.
• If the fuse is melted, inspect the wiring harness for short to ground. Repair or replace the wiring harness, then replace the fuse.
3
• Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position.
• Remove the instrument cluster.
• Disconnect the instrument cluster connector (24-pin).
• Inspect the voltage between instrument cluster wiring harness-side connector (24-pin) terminal 2F (IG1) and terminal 2V (GND).
• Turn the ignition switch to ON position.
• Is the voltage B+?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect the suspect wiring harness, then repair or replace the wiring harness.
4
• Turn the ignition switch to OFF position.
• Inspect the connection of the instrument cluster connector (24-pin).
• Disconnect the instrument cluster connector (24-pin).
• Inspect both the instrument cluster and wiring harness-side connector terminal 2V and 2F for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
• Are all the pins normal?
Yes
Replace the instrument cluster.
No

If poor connection of instrument cluster connector

• Securely connect the instrument cluster connector.

If the instrument cluster side connector is wrong

• Replace the instrument cluster.

If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong

• Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.
