NO. 5 BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES


5	Brake system warning light illuminates
POSSIBLE CAUSE	• Poor connection of ABS HU/CM connector, terminal damage • ABS HU/CM malfunction • Poor connection of instrument cluster connector, terminal damage • Instrument cluster malfunction • Poor connection of brake fluid level sensor connector, terminal damage • Brake fluid level sensor malfunction • Poor connection of parking brake switch connector, terminal damage • Parking brake switch malfunction • Short circuit in wiring harness between CAN-L, CAN-H and GND • Open circuit in CAN wiring harness (CAN-L, CAN-H) • Short circuit in CAN wiring harness (CAN-L, CAN-H)


STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	• Start the engine. • release the parking brake. • Does the brake system warning light turn off?	Yes	The system is normal.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	• Are there a number of warning lights illuminated?	Yes	Go to Step 5.
2	• Are there a number of warning lights illuminated?	No	Go to the next step.
3	• Does the brake fluid need replenishment?	Yes	It replenishes it with the brake fluid up to a regulated amount.
3	• Does the brake fluid need replenishment?	No	Go to the next step.
4	• Start the instrument cluster input/output check mode. • Does the brake system warning light turn off with a check code other than 26?	Yes	Inspect the following the parts (connection, etc). • ABS HU/CM • Brake fluid level sensor • Parking Brake switch If poor connection of each parts connector • Securely connect the each parts connector. If the each parts side connector is wrong • Replace the each parts. If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong • Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.
4		No	Replace the instrument cluster.
5	• Disconnect the negative battery cable. • Measure the resistance between the DLC-2 terminals F and E. • Is the resistance 54-66 ohms?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Go to Step 7.
6	• Disconnect the negative battery cable. • Inspect the DLC-2 terminals F and E for short to power supply or GND. • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Inspect the wiring harness and module connected with CAN. Repair or replace if necessary.
6		No	Replace the instrument cluster.
7	• Turn the ignition switch to OFF position. • Inspect the connection of the instrument cluster connector (24-pin). • Disconnect the instrument cluster connector (24-pin). • Inspect both the instrument cluster and wiring harness-side connector terminal 2X and 2W for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion). • Are all the pins normal?	Yes	Replace the instrument cluster.
7		No	If poor connection of instrument cluster connector • Securely connect the instrument cluster connector. If the instrument cluster side connector is wrong • Replace the instrument cluster. If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong • Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.
