AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE CONSTRUCTION/OPERATION

id091800103800

• Installed in the dashboard on the front passenger side.
• Adjusts the optical axis according to the input signal from the PCM, instrument cluster, and the auto leveling sensor.
• When a malfunction in the auto leveling system is detected, the auto leveling system warning light illuminates to advice the driver.

Optical Axis Adjusting Function

• Identifies the vehicle speed and attitude variations according to the signal input from the PCM, instrument cluster, and the auto level sensor, and calculates the optimum amount for optical axis adjustment.
• Controls the headlight leveling actuator according to the optical axis adjustment amount.

Initial Setting Function

• Records the vehicle height while there are no occupants based on the signal voltage input from the auto leveling sensor when the vehicle is unoccupied.
• Initial setting must be performed after performing any of the following procedures.
- Front combination light replacement
- Replacement of the auto leveling control module
- Auto leveling sensor removal/installation
- Suspension replacement or work that effects vehicle height

Fail-safe Function

• When a malfunction shown in the fail-safe function table is detected, the fail-safe function operates. At this time, the auto leveling system warning light illuminates to inform the driver.
• Each part is controlled as shown in the fail-safe function table.

Auto leveling sensor
Signal error
When signal voltage of auto leveling sensor is 0.49 V or less or 4.43 V or more, three or more times, for approx. 0.04 s is detected.
Returns to initial position if optical axis position is higher than initial position. Stops optical axis position when malfunction is detected if optical axis position is lower than initial position.
Illuminated *1
When normal status continues for 1 s or more, or ignition switch is turned off and then to ON position again.
Auto leveling control module
When malfunction in auto leveling control module is detected.
Reset microcomputer in auto leveling control module.
Illuminated
When ignition switch is turned off and then to ON position again.
Headlight leveling actuator
When there is short to power supply or ground in harness between auto leveling control module and headlight leveling actuator
Stops at optical axis position when malfunction is detected.
Illuminated
When normal status continues for 1 s or more.
Battery voltage
When battery voltage of 10 V or less or 16 V or more is detected
Stops at optical axis position when malfunction is detected.
Not illuminated
When battery voltage between 10-16 V is detected, or the ignition switch is turned off and then to the ON position again.

*1 :
Illuminates when malfunction for 10 s or more is detected.
Note
• When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the auto leveling control module performs the bulb check of the auto leveling system warning light and illuminates the warning light for approx. 3 s if there is no malfunction.
