2.  Measure the camshaft runout using a dial gauge.

•  If it exceeds the maximum specification, replace the camshaft.
Maximum runout
0.03 mm {0.001 in}

3.  Measure the cam lobe height as shown using the micrometer.

•  If it is less than the minimum specification, replace the camshaft.

•  If it is less than the minimum specification, replace the camshaft.
Standard journal diameter
25.950—25.975 mm {1.022—1.023 in}
Minimum journal diameter

5.  Measure the camshaft journal oil clearance using a plastigauge with the tappet removed.

Note
•  Clean the camshaft journal and the journal receptacle part.
•  Cut the plastigauge to the same length as the journal width and position it in parallel to the camshaft.
•  If it exceeds the specification, replace the cylinder head.
Standard oil clearance
0.034—0.080 mm {0.0014—0.0031 in}
Maximum oil clearance
0.09 mm {0.0035 in}

6.  Measure the camshaft end play using a dial gauge.

•  If it exceeds the maximum specification, replace the cylinder head or the camshaft.
Standard end play
0.07—0.19 mm {0.0027—0.0074 in}
Maximum end play
0.20 mm {0.0078 in}
