-
Warning
-
• High temperature exhaust gas is emitted during diesel particulate filter manual regeneration. People near the vehicle could be seriously burned, or flammable objects could catch fire. Always perform diesel particulate filter regeneration away from people and flammable objects.
• If large amounts of exhaust gas are inhaled, it may cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Always perform diesel particulate filter manual regeneration in a well-ventilated place. (Avoid performing diesel particulate filter manual regeneration indoors using an exhaust air duct. Perform it in the open air.)
-
Caution
-
• If the general vehicle condition or state of repair and servicing is not acceptable (engine oil level, drive belt, engine coolant level), diesel particulate filter manual regeneration cannot be performed correctly. Make sure the general vehicle condition or state of repair and servicing is acceptable, before performing the diesel particulate filter manual regeneration.
• If there are obstructions such as a wall around the tailpipe during diesel particulate filter manual regeneration, it will obstruct the exhaust gas passage (airflow), and the diesel particulate filter manual regeneration may not be performed correctly due to the increase in exhaust gas temperature. Always perform diesel particulate filter regeneration with no obstructions around tailpipe.
-
Note
-
• If the diesel particulate filter manual regeneration is canceled by depressing the brake pedal.
1. Stop the vehicle.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Remove the under cover.
4. Connect the M-MDS to DLC-2.
5. Warm up the engine.
6. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initial screen of the M-MDS.
-
• When using the IDS (notebook PC)
-
1. Select “Powertrain”.
7. Then, select items from the screen menu in the following order.
-
1. Select “Service Functions”.
2. Select “PCM”.
8. Select “Diesel Particulate Filter Static Regeneration” and perform procedures according to directions on the M-MDS screen.
-
Note
-
• Even when diesel particulate filter regeneration is finished and the MIL turns off, DTC P242F is still recorded in the PCM as a past malfunction. Erase all DTCs using the M-MDS after diesel particulate filter regeneration is finished. (See
AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)
9. Retrieve DTCs by the M-MDS, then verify that there is no DTC present.
