ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION (APP) SENSOR INSPECTION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo]

Visual Inspection

1.  Remove the accelerator pedal. (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

2.  Verify that there are no metal shavings on the sensor.

3.  Visually inspect the APP sensor for the following:

•  Damage

•  Cracks

•  Rusted sensor terminal

•  Bent sensor terminal

―  If there is any malfunction, replace the accelerator pedal. (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

4.  Install the accelerator pedal. (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.4 DI Turbo].)

Voltage Inspection

1.  Connect the oscilloscope to the APP sensor connector terminal E and body ground.

2.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Engine off).

3.  Verify that the duty ratio at terminal E changes while operating the accelerator pedal as shown in the graph.

Resistance Inspection

1.  Disconnect the APP sensor connector.

2.  Measure the resistance between terminals A and C.
