DTC DISPLAY [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER]

1.  Turn the dials to the following positions.

•  Temperature setting dial: 15/18 (MAX COLD)
•  Airflow volume control dial: OFF
•  Airflow mode control dial: DEFROSTER

2.  Press the rear window defroster switch and A/C switch at the same time and hold them pressed.

3.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Note
•  If there is any malfunction in the air conditioner circuit, a DTC is displayed approx. 5 s after the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

4.  Perform the DTC inspection (present and past malfunction indication modes).

(1)  Read DTCs via the flashing patterns of the REC indicator light on the climate control unit. If it is normal, the REC indicator light does not illuminate.
•  If any DTCs are displayed, perform troubleshooting according to the corresponding DTC inspection.

5.  After completion of repairs (past malfunction), clear all DTCs from the memory. (See After Repair Procedure.)

6.  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position to end the DTC inspection.


Present Malfunction Indication Mode

•  The on-board diagnostic function displays the present malfunction indication mode directly after start up. In this mode, present malfunctions in the control system circuits (open/short circuits) are detected and the DTCs are indicated by the REC indicator light flashing on the climate control unit.
Note
•  In the present malfunction indication mode, the A/C switch indicator light turns off.

Past Malfunction Indication Mode

•  While in the present malfunction indication mode, press the A/C switch to change to the past malfunction indication mode. In this mode, past malfunctions (open/short circuits) that have occurred in input circuits, such as sensors, are stored and indicated by the REC indicator light flashing on the climate control unit. If the A/C switch is pressed again, the on-board diagnostic function will return to the present malfunction indication mode.
Note
•  While in the past malfunction indication mode, the A/C switch indicator light illuminates.

After Repair Procedure

•  When DTCs are displayed in the past malfunction indication mode, they remain in the memory after the malfunctioning systems are corrected. Consequently, the next time the past malfunction indication mode is used, the same past malfunction DTCs will be indicated by the REC indicator light flashing on the climate control unit. Therefore, clear the past malfunction memory after correcting all malfunctioning systems.

Memory Clearing Procedure

1.  Press the rear window defroster switch and the REC/FRESH switch at the same time while in the past malfunction indication mode.
