1. Using the piston, press the piston ring parallel into the cylinder to 46.9 mm {1.85 in} from the upper end of the cylinder block.

2. Measure the piston ring end gap using a feeler gauge.

• If it exceeds the maximum specification, replace the piston ring.

Standard piston ring end gap

Top: 0.17—0.22 mm {0.0067—0.0086 in}

Second: 0.17—0.27 mm {0.007—0.010 in}

Oil (rail): 0.15—0.25 mm {0.0060—0.0098 in}

Maximum piston ring end gap

Top: 0.38 mm {0.015 in}

Second: 0.49 mm {0.019 in}

Oil (rail): 0.46 mm {0.018 in}
