Purpose of Adoption

• To improve engine re-startability, the ignition switch OFF (IG-ON to IG-OFF) is delayed (within approx. 0.5 s) until the variable valve timing mechanism switches to the fixed mode^*1 when the ignition is switched OFF (LOCK) under the following conditions.

― During or right after fast idle increase (during control of catalytic converter earlier activation)

― Right after shifting to D/R/M position while the vehicle is parked at high-altitude, or shifting from D/R/M position to P/N position

*1 :Fixed mode (lock-pin in hydraulic variable valve timing actuator engaged with rotor depression)
