Purpose of Adoption
• A steering column with a tilt/telescoping mechanism has been adopted to enable precise adjustment for an optimum driving posture.
Service Point
• Not applicable
Common Inquiry
• After releasing the tilt/telescoping lever and adjusting the steering wheel position, the tilt cam may not engage with the teeth on the opposite side and the lever cannot be locked.
• If they do not engage, move the steering wheel slightly and return the lever slowly to lock the lever.
Other
• The steering wheel can be moved in the up/down and forward/backward direction by pressing the adjusting lever towards the front of the vehicle and releasing the lock of the tilt/telescoping system.
• The tilt/telescoping mechanism allows adjustment for 45 mm {1.8 in} in the vertical direction and 50 mm {2.0 in} in the longitudinal direction.
• Generally, the telescoping operation may feel heavy if it is operated by one hand or holding the lower part (6-o'clock position) or upper part (12-o'clock position) of the steering wheel. It can be operated smoothly by holding the steering wheel in the 3-o'clock and 9-o'clock positions.
