•  A cowl grille with a shock-absorbing structure has been adopted to reduce impact to pedestrians in a collision.

•  If a pedestrian contacts the cowl grille in a collision, the cowl grille deforms to reduces impact applied to the pedestrian.

•   The cowl grille has a slit on the side (RH).

•   The cowl grille has a slit on the side (LH).

•  The slit on the side of the cowl grille contributes to facilitated deformation when impact is applied from the upper side of the cowl grille.

•  When impact is applied from the upper side of the cowl grille, the cowl grille deforms in a V shape, absorbing the impact energy from a collision.

•  Covers made of soft material are equipped on the both sides of the cowl grille to optimize the rigidity.

•  The soft-material cover equipped on the both sides of the cowl grille prevents rain from penetrating the engine compartment. In addition, it prevents heat and odors from entering the cabin from the engine compartment.
