DTC P1562

PCM +BB (back-up battery) voltage low

DETECTION CONDITION

• The PCM monitors the voltage of the back-up battery positive at PCM terminal 1AX. If the PCM detects that the battery positive terminal voltage is 2.5V or less for 2 s, the PCM determines that the backup voltage circuit has a malfunction.
Diagnostic support note
• This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
• The MIL illuminates if PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
• The PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition.
• The FREEZE FRAME DATA is available
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Melted EGI COMP1 fuse
• Open circuit in wiring between EGI COMP1 fuse and PCM terminal 1AX
• Short to ground between EGI COMP1 fuse and PCM terminal 1AX
• Poor connection of PCM connector
• PCM malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
• Perform the DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE.
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Intermittent concern exists. Go to the INTERMITTENT CONCERN TROUBLESHOOTING procedure.
2
INSPECT EGI COMP1 FUSE
• Turn the ignition switch off.
• Inspect the EGI COMP1 fuse for failure and proper installation.
• Is it normal?
Yes
Go to step 5.
No
• If the EGI COMP1 fuse has melted, then go to the next step.
• If the EGI COMP1 fuse is not installed correctly, install it correctly then go to Step 6.
3
INSPECT MONITOR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Disconnect the battery cables.
• Inspect for continuity between the EGI COMP1 fuse terminal and body ground.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for short to ground and install new fuse, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to step 6.
4
INSPECT PCM FOR POOR CONNECTION
• Disconnect the PCM connector.
• Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged, pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair the terminals, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.
5
INSPECT MONITOR CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Disconnect battery cables.
• Inspect for continuity between the EGI COMP1 fuse terminal and PCM terminal 1AX (wiring harness-side).
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness for an open circuit, then go to the next step.
6
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P1562 COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the WDS or equivalent.
• Perform the KOEO/KOER self-test.
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform the "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE".
• Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
(See DTC TABLE.)
No
Troubleshooting completed.
