Outline

• The function of the fuel pump unit is essentially carried over from that of the previous Mazda 121 121DEMIO (DW) models except for the following.
- The fuel jet pump and fuel reservoir cup have been adopted. It has the same function as the current Mazda6 (GG, GY) models.

Structure

• The fuel pump unit is mainly composed of the fuel pump, fuel pump case, fuel filter (low-pressure), fuel jet pump and the fuel gauge sender unit.

• A resin fuel pump unit has been adopted.
• The fuel pump unit installed in the fuel tank can be removed by removing the fuel tank.
• The fuel pump unit cannot be disassembled.
• To prevent decreased engine output from a lack of fuel supply when the vehicle is turning, the fuel pump has been designed so that the fuel supply always remains constant in the fuel reservoir cup.
• The fuel pump unit pumps the fuel from the fuel jet pump following the passage as indicated by A in the figure to the fuel reservoir cup.
• Fuel in the fuel reservoir cup passes through the fuel filter (low-pressure) and is forced out by the fuel pump, and then it is pumped to the fuel filter (high-pressure). Return fuel passes through the fuel jet pump and is returned to the fuel reservoir cup or the fuel tank.
