SPARK PLUG INSPECTION [ZJ, ZY]

NGK: BKR5E-11 (Standard plug), BKR6E-11 (Cold type plug)

DENSO: K16PR-U11 (Standard plug), K20PR-U11 (Cold type plug)

Champion: RC10YC4 (Standard plug), RC8YC4 (Cold type plug)

MAZDA: BP13 18 110 (Standard plug), BP14 18 110 (Cold type plug)

Cleaning

1. If carbon is adheres to the spark plug, clean it with the wire brush and remove the carbon.

Note

• If there is no plug cleaner when cleaning the spark plug, remove the dirt from the spark plug completely and wash with the gasoline.

Visual inspection

1. Check the following items.

• If there is any malfunction, replace the spark plug.

- Damaged insulation

- Worn electrode

- Damaged gasket

Plug Gap Inspection/Adjustment

1. Inspect the plug gap.

• If not within the specification, adjust the plug gap.

1.0-1.1 mm {0.040-0.043 in}

Resistance inspection

1. Measure the resistance of the spark plug using a tester.

• If not within the specification, replace the spark plug.

NGK, DENSO: 3.0-7.5 kilohms

MAZDA, Champion: 5.0-15 kilohms
