Cleaning
1. If carbon is adheres to the spark plug, clean it with the wire brush and remove the carbon.

• If there is no plug cleaner when cleaning the spark plug, remove the dirt from the spark plug completely and wash with the gasoline.
Visual inspection
1. Check the following items.

• If there is any malfunction, replace the spark plug.

- Damaged insulation
-
- Worn electrode
-
- Damaged gasket
Plug Gap Inspection/Adjustment
1. Inspect the plug gap.

• If not within the specification, adjust the plug gap.
Spark plug gap

1.0-1.1 mm {0.040-0.043 in}
Resistance inspection
1. Measure the resistance of the spark plug using a tester.

• If not within the specification, replace the spark plug.
Spark plug resistance [20 °C {68 °F}]
-
NGK, DENSO: 3.0-7.5 kilohms
-
MAZDA, Champion: 5.0-15 kilohms
