OXYGEN SENSOR HEATER CONTROL

Outline

• The function of the oxygen sensor heater control is essentially carried over from that of the current Mazda6 (GG, GY) models except for the following:
- Operation condition
- Operation inhibition condition

Operation

Operation condition

• The PCM operates the heated oxygen sensor as indicated in the table below depending on the engine condition.

Drive duty ratio

Engine condition

30%
• Engine start
• During engine operation other than idling
• Engine coolant temperature 5°C {41°F} or less
• DTC for ECT sensor, TP sensor, and IAT sensor malfunction detected.
100%
• If the engine coolant temperature at the time of engine start is 50°C {122°F} or lower than the engine coolant temperature at the time the engine was stopped from the last time the vehicle was driven, the heated oxygen sensor operates for the specified time after engine start (differs according to the engine coolant temperature at time of engine start [lower temperature→longer time]).

Inhibition condition

• During torque reduction
• Engine speed 4,300 rpm or more
• High load condition
• Engine stop
