INSPECT OTHER WARNING AND INDICATOR LIGHTS CIRCUIT IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
• Turn ignition switch to the ON position.
• Do other warning and indicator lights illuminate?

Yes

Turn ignition switch to the LOCK position, then go to the next step.

No
|
Inspect the instrument cluster power supply system and ground system, then go to Step 5.

INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
• Turn ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the PCM connector.
• Connect the instrument cluster terminal 1G to ground using the jumper wire.
• Connect the negative battery cable.
• Turn ignition switch to the ON position.
• Does air bag system warning light illuminate?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the instrument cluster, then go to Step 4.

INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND PCM
• Turn ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
• Inspect the wiring harness between instrument cluster connector terminal 1G and PCM connector 1AG for the following:
• Is the wiring harness normal?

Yes
|
Replace the PCM and reprogram immobilizer system, then go to the next step.
(See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No
|
Replace the wiring harness, then go to the next step.

CONFIRM THAT MALFUNCTION SYMPTOMS DO NOT RECUR AFTER REPAIR
• Turn ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Connect the instrument cluster connector.
• Connect the PCM connector.
• Connect the negative battery cable.
• Turn ignition switch to the ON position.
• Does security light operate properly?

Yes
|
Complete troubleshooting, then explain repairs to customer.
|
No
|
Recheck malfunction symptoms, then repeat from Step 1 if malfunction recurs.
